Driver Performance Appraisal and Review
Driver appraisals should be carried out at regular intervals, at least annually, and are an essential tool in the management of both drivers and fleet safety.. The appraisal process should identify a driver’s training needs, and also enable the organisation to gain an appreciation of how well a driver is performing and meeting the requirements of their employment, including:
• Compliance with policies, procedures and standards
• Accident record
• Any health issues
• Eyesight has not deteriorated
It is important to continually monitor a driver’s general health to ensure that they continue to be sufficiently healthy and able to undertake their duties. The collected data can also help an organisation identify any deterioration in health and allow the organisation to help the driver where appropriate, for example recommending the purchase of spectacles.
